Planning your session
When should I book maternity boudoir in West Fargo?
Moms-to-be travel in from Fargo, Moorhead, Grand Forks, Bismarck and all over the region. Wherever you're coming from, here's what to know as you plan.
Mama tip: book in your second trimester, about 6 to 8 weeks ahead, so you get your date right in that 28 to 32 week sweet spot. Then bring the pieces that make it yours: an ultrasound photo, tiny baby shoes, your partner's button-down shirt or a sign with baby's name. The more personal, the more meaningful your images will be.
The Experience
An experience as beautiful as you are.
You don't need to be a model. You don't need to know how to pose. Instead, all you need to do is show up, because my all-female team and I take care of the rest. Here's a peek behind the scenes.

Plan your look
We meet before your session to plan your outfits. Bring your own pieces, or play dress-up from my client closet, sizes XS to 6X.
Get glam
Relax in my styling room while you get professional hair, makeup and lashes.
Be guided
Then your 2-hour session is fully guided, head to toe. I'll show you every pose, so you never have to wonder what to do.
See yourself
About 5 to 6 days later, you'll see your images at your reveal and choose your favorites. Finally, get ready to fall in love.
Beautiful portraits
An incredible experience. Something you'll never forget.
Your pregnancy photos show the bump. Your maternity boudoir photos, on the other hand, show you. Soft, glowing, powerful or sultry, it's your story to tell.

Those feet have been working overtime. Treat them to a pampering pedicure at Affiniti Day Spa, or melt into a prenatal massage at Tranquility Spa & Massage in Fargo.
Book a babymoon
Turn your session into a little getaway. Check into Hotel Donaldson or the Jasper Hotel in downtown Fargo for a night of rest, room service and baby talk.
Dinner in full glam
Your hair and makeup are still perfect, so show them off. Book a table at Maxwells in West Fargo or Luna in Fargo.
Boutique hop
Browse downtown favorites The NINES and Proper, shop local makers at Unglued inside Brewhalla, or head to Evereve at West Acres.
Thrift and vintage
Hunt for treasure at Revolver, Violet Vintage and Carmine & Hayworth, then lose an hour at the Moorhead Antique Mall.
Something sweet
Grab a pastry and a latte at Nichole’s Fine Pastry, then snap a few selfies downtown while your glam is still fresh.

Good to know
West Fargo maternity boudoir questions, answered.
What is maternity boudoir photography?
Maternity boudoir is an intimate, empowering portrait session that celebrates your body during pregnancy. Many moms-to-be keep the images as a keepsake for themselves and their family, and many give them to their partner as a gift. At Artography by Bethany in West Fargo, ND, every session is fully guided and you choose your comfort level, from lace robes and flowing fabric to sheer, implied portraits.
When is the best time for a maternity boudoir session?
Most moms plan their session between 28 and 32 weeks, when your bump is round and you still feel comfortable moving and posing. Book 6 to 8 weeks ahead, since sessions are held on Thursdays and Fridays. You will see your images 5 to 6 days after your session at your reveal, and products ordered that day take 8 to 12 business days to arrive.
What should I wear to my maternity boudoir session?
Play dress-up from the studio's inclusive client closet in sizes XS to 6X, or bring your own favorites, like a lace robe, a soft bralette or your partner's button-down shirt. Most clients bring 3 to 5 outfits, and you get a styling guide after booking. Meaningful details like an ultrasound photo or tiny baby shoes make lovely additions.
I've never done boudoir. Do I need to know how to pose?
No. Bethany directs every pose from head to toe, so you never have to know how to model. In fact, most first-time clients say their nerves fade within the first 10 to 15 minutes. Also, you can pause, skip a pose or stop at any time.
Will I be comfortable during my session while pregnant?
Yes. You can sit, rest, take water or restroom breaks and stop at any time, and Bethany adjusts every pose for your comfort and your bump. Your session moves at your pace.
Is hair and makeup included?
Yes, with The Experience. It includes a pre-session wardrobe consultation and fitting, the client closet, professional hair, makeup and lashes, a 2-hour guided photo session, and a reveal and ordering appointment. Overall, plan for about 3.5 hours in total on session day.
Who will see my maternity boudoir photos?
Only you, unless you say otherwise. Your images are private by default and are never posted publicly, on social media or in a portfolio without your explicit consent, image by image. Also, files are stored securely and delivered through a secure cloud service only you can access.
Where is the studio?
In short, sessions are held at the private Artography by Bethany studio at 1702 4th Ave NW in West Fargo, ND, just minutes from Fargo and Moorhead. Also, the team is all female: photographer, hair, makeup and assistant. On-location sessions are not available.
Do you photograph moms-to-be from outside Fargo?
Yes. Moms-to-be come to the West Fargo studio from Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead. They also come from nearby towns like Dilworth, Horace, Casselton, Grand Forks, Valley City, Jamestown, Wahpeton and Breckenridge. Others drive in from Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Crookston, Bismarck, Minot and Dickinson. Sessions are always held at the private studio, so plan to make a day of it.
What keepsakes can I order from my session?
Along with a classic album, Beyond the Album gifts include The Peep Show, The Pin-Ups, The Strip Tease, The Peek-A-Book, The Dirty Dozen, Midnight Snacks, The Stacked Deck and The Tease-Mobile. Then you choose your favorites at your reveal and ordering appointment.
